Our Lemongrass Spice tea (also known as Yummy Tummy) is a house blend of lemon grass, cinnamon stick, and awakening peppermint combined with our black tea fannings to create a bold, flavorful, combination that tastes great and helps with digestion.  It brews into a deep amber liquor with a bold lemongrass and cinnamon fragrance.  The taste is crisp and zesty, the finish is smooth, clean and minty.  It tastes great with or without sweeteners.  For an extra kick of spice, we recommend adding a pinch of freshly ground ginger before steeping.

 

Health Benefits:

Traditionally, lemongrass is believed to cleanse the body has been in traditional medicine as a tonic and remedy against constipation, fever, high blood pressure and many infectious diseases.  Scientific studies of lemongrass have found it is rich in vitamins, anti-oxidants, with its concentration of citral especially effective in controlling obesity, cholesterol, and improving glucose stability in type II diabetics, and fighting cancers and infections.  The anti-inflammatory property of lemongrass is beneficial for treating constipation, ulcerative colitis, diarrhea, nausea and stomach aches. Lemongrass aids in calming muscles and nerves, which helps in inducing a restful sleep.  Peppermint has been demonstrated to be useful in relaxing abdominal muscles and treating pain, cramping, irritation, and inflammation due to IBS.

Preparation Notes:

A tbsp (~0.16) oz of dried leaves for a small pot of tea shared among friends, but as little as a tsp dried leaves (~0.05oz) per 8 oz of water can be used for a single tea drinker.

We recommend shaving freshly ground ginger and adding a pinch to the tea before steeping for an extra spicy kick and to further assist with digestive discomfort.

Boil water (212˚ F, 100˚ C) and steep for 2-4 minutes.

Can be re-infused.

Tastes great hot or iced.
